Vivafit awarded European Club Leadership Award 2008 by IHRSA
Vivafit received from IHRSA International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association, the European Club Leadership Award 2008, the most important recognition given annually by this worldwide association in Europe.
Vivafit is the first Portuguese club operator to conquer this distinction that rewards performance, leadership and excellence in customer service in Europe.
Vivafit was the first brand to launch the 30 minutes only for woman concept in Portugal in 2003.
Today, Vivafit the chain of women-only clubs has 35 thousand members and leads the private fitness sector with 85 different locations all over the country, plus 1 in Spain.
The Portuguese chain of womens express workout centers, Vivafit was distinguished by IHRSA International Health & Racquet Sportsclub Association with the "European Club Leadership Award 2008. This is the most relevant award given, annually, by this international association to the Club Operator that most contributed to the fitness industry development in Europe through its performance and leadership.
IHRSA has 9,100 members in 78 countries as well as 700 associated members that are industry suppliers.
The award recognizes the European Club operator who has done the most to improve his company and the industry over the past year through strong leadership and performance.
Nominees are judged on:
. Strong financial, unit and membership growth, which have presented a positive view of the industry to consumers and to the community;
. Positive impact on the European industry;
. Commitment to excellence (i.e. customer service, professionalism);
. Industry leadership in terms of public policy or participation in IHRSA initiatives;
. Extraordinary accomplishments (i.e. leading a business turnaround).
The European Club Leadership Award is given to the club leaders who have done the most to advance their company and the industry through leadership and performance, and we are proud to honour Constance and Pedro Ruiz, President and Vivafits CEO, as our deserving recipients this year, said Joe Moore, IHRSAs President and CEO during the 8th Annual IHRSA European Congress held in Lisbon on the 23 -26 October.
Constance and Pedro Ruiz made significant contributions to the fitness industry in Portugal and are strongly committed in lifestyle changing habits regarding exercise. The partnerships established with the local Osteoporoses Association APOROS and Fundao Portuguesa de Cardiologia reinforce this commitment., says Joe Moore.
Vivafit was the franchising brand leading growth in the first six months of the year, according to the IIF Instituto de Informao em Franchising (Information Institute for Franchising). Vivafit started 2008 with 64 clubs and during the first semester the chain grew to 79 locations (15 openings). The Portuguese chain Vivafit has, at the moment, a total number of 85 centers in Portugal three owned and 82 franchised and one owned in Spain (Madrid). Vivafit is the major club operator in Portugal considering the number of locations. By the end of the year, Vivafit will open six new locations in the Lisbon area, North and South Portugal. Vivafit is also developing plans for expansion through Master Franchising, following-up leads in Europe, South America and Asia.
Vivafit is growing full speed in Portugal with an average of two new openings each month. - says Pedro Ruiz, Vivafit CEO.
Our expansion program foresees a total of 45 new clubs until 2010 in order to reach a total chain of 130 locations in Portugal, 30 clubs in Spain, and at least 1 Master Franchise he adds.
